Can you tell me the difference from being patient and being tolerant
Assistant
**Patience** and **tolerance** are related but distinct:

| | **Patience** | **Tolerance** |
|---|---|---|
| **Core** | How you handle *delay or frustration* | How you handle *difference or disagreement* |
| **Internal state** | Emotional regulation โ€” staying calm when things take longer than you want | Acceptance โ€” allowing things to exist that you don't agree with |
| **Example** | Waiting in a long line without getting angry | Letting someone hold a different opinion without arguing |
| **Endurance** | Of *time and inconvenience* | Of *ideas, people, or situations you don't prefer* |

**Key distinction:** Patience is *enduring the pace of something*. Tolerance is *enduring the nature of something*.

You can be patient with someone you tolerate, or tolerate someone you have no patience for โ€” they don't always come together.

In short: patience is about **waiting well**. Tolerance is about **accepting difference**.
